Self-Organization Analysed in Architecture using Voronoi Tessellation and Particle Systems
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the age of digital technology, architects are discovering new methods to create complex architectural structures inspired by self-organization in nature. It inspires architects to create structures that are effective in the use of materials and energy. A Voronoi diagram is a digital tool that can help to translate self-organizing systems into architecture. This paper presents comprehensive research conducted on how the Voronoi diagram can be used to design complex spatial forms and different elements of an architectural structure to create optimal solutions. A detailed analysis of the application of the Voronoi diagram has been done in rhino and grasshopper. The design of architectural plans and elements by using computational geometry makes new opportunities for architectural projects as seen by the Voronoi diagram.
