Sustainable Roadside Parking Solutions in Urban Areas

Abstract

Roadside parking is a necessary supplementary form to solve the urban parking problem, which plays an important part in alleviating the parking demand pressure in residential areas. However, due to the poor management and use of on-road parking, there are problems such as parking confusion and illegal occupation of road resources, which affect the road capacity. Roadside parking serves as an essential complementary measure to address the challenges posed by urban parking issues, playing a crucial role in relieving the parking demand strain in residential areas. In order to mitigate the on-road parking problems in urban residential areas, the setting of on road parking in Taxila, HMC dual carriage roadway is studied and explored. As the traffic on the existing road system in the Taxila, HMC dual carriage way increases, congestion becomes a serious problem. First of all, this paper uses the method of combining manual field survey data and inquiry survey to investigate the peak demand on-road parking settings in residential areas, and summarizes the problems such as the imbalance between supply and demand of parking, the unreasonable settings. Based on this, this paper puts forward the corresponding preventive measures solutions on three aspects of parking space settings, parking time settings, and parking space settings, in order to provide solutions and preventive measures for other urban residential parking settings.
